I forgot my phone.
Watchijng this video made me a little more observant to the amount of time I spend on my phone each day. Not only the amount of time but how much of that time is spent when other people are present. I have a deal with my friends at dinner sometimes where we all put on phones in the middle of the table and first one to cave has to cover all of the tip. We live in a time where almost everyone is attachted to their electronics. I realize they made this video to make the point that everyone is on thier phone all the time, but they were a bit excessive with having everyone on their phone at the same time. Our society has lost the value of communication and the connections between each other.

Exercise 7.1
This salty veteran was offended by the exhibit, "Home of The Brave," featured at the museum. The veteran is offended because the artists have no idea the sacrifice that is made for them to have the freedom to be able to do that and disgrace the American Flag. I completely agree with him, the artist should be a bit more considerate of the people who give them their freedoms. The writer is speaking from his own personal, first hand experience of fighting for our freedoms. I agree with the writer, he kind of brings a bias that helps me side with him. If i were talk to the artist i may feel a different way about it though. Art and polotics are not a good mix and everyone see's art differently and that is why it is art.

Argument Proposal
Earned Not Given
I would like to address the importance of competition in sports. Today many parents believe in everyone having fun and everybody participating. Although this is good in theory, this thinking is actually hindering the development of children. Competitive sports teach important lessons, it is about more than just winning and losing. It teaches children sportsmanship and humility when they when and the understanding and drive to become better when they lose. Life lessons are taught at a young age and when you take that away from a child, they will never learn about failure, they will just assume that everything should be fair and be given to them.
What does competition in sports teach? And how does it affect the lives of our children?
Competitions teaches self worth and builds confidence. The participation mentality teaches a sense of entitlement.

Morning Happiness
I am not always one to eat
breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of breakfast foods. But in the
mornings, I’m usually running late and don’t have time to indulge. It was
another one of those mornings last week. I was running late and barely made it
to work on time, arriving at the last second with my stomach growling. As I walked toward the pharmacy, I was stopped by one of the
doctors. Greeting me with a smile and an unfamiliar box, he said something to
the extent of, “this is to thank you and the rest of the pharmacy for all the
hard work you guys do.” Confused, I took the box. It was plain aside from a
single sticker of a silhouette of a cowboy on a horse, and at the top it read
“Donut Corral”. Before that day I had never heard of this place.
Excited
to try this new place for myself, I pulled into a spot right in front. I was
immediately greeted with a “good morning” as I exited my vehicle. Startled, I returned
the greeting from the gentleman, who was checking on all of his patrons both inside
and outside. There were two entrances, both of which were wide open and
inviting. Greeted again as I walked inside, it was hard not to be in a good
mood. I took a quick peak around and sort of stood by, undecided and observant.
The morning atmosphere and smells of fresh donuts and coffee was a lot to take
in. It was fairly crowded inside, with families at a few tables and a bible
study at another. I recognized a few of the donuts in the display case, but I
saw many new ones that looked just as enticing.
As I waited in line, I was surprised to hear
someone order a breakfast burrito. Sure enough, I looked up and noticed big
chalkboards staring back at me, advertising burritos. Right there in front of
me were not only all the donuts a guy could dream of, but also burritos! I knew
exactly was I was going to get. I stepped up to the counter and ordered from
the extremely friendly staff. I ordered a half dozen of different donuts to
take home and share, and then ordered a chorizo burrito with eggs, potato, and cheese.
It took a little longer than expected for my burrito, but when I got home I
found out that it was well worth the wait. A visit to “Donut Corral” has the
power to turn any morning into a happy one.
